Ruth Elda Lewis

Ruth Elda (Oltmann) Lewis was born on April 8,1925 in Serbin, Texas to Wilhelm Friedrich Oltmann and Alma Marie Henrietta (Tietjen) Oltmann. Ruth passed away the morning of September 26,2022 in Puyallup, Washington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Ben and Ruby Oltmann, Ernest and Edna Oltmann, and Wilbert and Elsie Oltmann; 1 sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and Victor Symm; 2 children, Tommy Fischer and Glenn Fischer; and her husband, Richard Lewis.

She perfected the art of farming, "because my brothers went to war and Gladys and I worked the farm". When Ruth and Richard retired to their Wolfe City, Texas farm, people came from miles around for fresh eggs, Milk, homemade butter, fruits and veggies from her garden, and fishing in their tank. Her love for animals led to a variety of dogs, cows, sheep, chickens. roosters, ducks, a horse, a donkey, and numerous injured birds nursed back to health!

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Carole Fisher, 2 granddaughters, Jamie Tweden and Jennifer Bradford, 2 great granddaughters, Jordan Tweden and Izzy Pynchon, as well as many nieces and nephews. 

Her bright blue eyes, her beautiful smile, her strong faith and leading by example for 97 years will be missed by family and friends.
