Benny Aguigui Cruz, born on January 18, 1952, passed away at his home on September 30, 2026. Born and raised in Guam, he went through life with a deep connection to the island and the values he learned there. During the Vietnam War, he proudly served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. After his military service, he continued to serve his community and others as a Fire Captain for the Department of Defense and as a psychiatric technician for the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse. He will be remembered for his years of service, his love of the outdoors, his willingness to lend a hand, and most of all, his devotion to his family and God.
Benny Cruz will be met at the gates of Heaven by his Parents: Jesus Cruz Cruz and Carmen Tyquienco Aguigui, his Siblings: Herbet Cruz, Joseph Aguigui Cruz, and Joseph Cruz (infant), and his Grandchild: Tydes Tydingco.
His memory will live on through his Wife: Daisy Dezell Cruz, Children and their Spouses: Cami Tydingco-Quitugua, Mikayla Tydingco-Cruz, Roland Tydingco-Cruz, Leilani Tydingco-Amarente (Iris Tydingco-Amarante), Katrina Marietta (Bob Marietta), Janessa Tydingco, and John David Tydingco, his Grandchildren: Isabella, Elijah, Jayden, RJ, Maddy, Alan, Billy, Mariana, Amelia, Ada Beth, Ella Cate, John David III, Mathew, and Logan, and his Siblings: Eleanor Barcinas, Jesus Aguigui Cruz (Junior), Mildred Esteves, Virginia Cruz, Jocelyn Cruz, Raymond Cruz, and Maria Tayama
A viewing will be held for Benny on October 11, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Final respects will be held on October 13, 2026 from 10 a.m. until the end of mass. Mass for a Catholic burial will take place and will be followed by a burial at Tahoma National Cemetery at 2 p.m. where we will bid him a final farewell and a peaceful rest.
