Carlos R Acosta, 80, passed away Thursday August 28th, 2025, at home peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his immediate loved ones.

He leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Rita Acosta; his son, Daniel Acosta; his grandchildren, Alexandra and Conner Acosta; his sister, DeAnna Galindo; brothers, Michael and Larry Acosta; stepfather, Phillip Cabral; and too many nieces, nephews, cousins, brother and sister in laws, and friends to name.

Carlos was preceded in death by his youngest son David H Acosta who he loved dearly, along with his eldest brother Tony Acosta.

Born and raised in sunny southern California, the son of Lazaro and Della Acosta, he was a long-time resident of San Bernardino County, before moving to Washington state in 1984 where he spent the remainder of his life.

In his early years, Carlos enlisted in the Navy during the Vietnam era and was stationed off the coast of Da Nang on the Halsey (DLG-23) guided missile destroyer ship. Carlos was the ship’s barber as his job and was known as the ‘butcher of Saigon’, which always made us laugh. After completing his military service, he went on to earn a bachelor's degree from San Diego State University in Fine Art and a minor in psychology. He spent many years painting and drawing. Some of his pieces were displayed in various venues.

In 1975 he met his wife Rita, and they were married in 1979. They had their first son Daniel in June of 1983. After relocating to WA state, their second son David was born in July of 1988.

Carlos spent the next couple of decades working and raising his sons, attending all their sporting events and activities. He worked as a Barber, but because of his extreme creativity he ventured out doing Architectural rendering. He was responsible for several renderings of buildings located here in Puyallup. He enjoyed doing this for a while but realized something was missing, interacting with people. He later went back into barbering where he could socialize with his clients and use his creativity in all the latest hair cutting techniques.

More recently Carlos became a devoted grandfather to his favorite little ones, Alexandra and Conner. He spent plenty of time playing, joking, watching Disney animated movies, and all around enjoying his beautiful grandchildren. The last several years of his life was spent taking his family on plenty of vacations including Disney World, Maui, California, Las Vegas, Oregon, etc...

Carlos loved nothing more than spending time with his family but also loved lounging on his couch watching his favorite television programs with his dog Annabelle the boxer laying at his side.

Carlos Acosta was loved deeply and will be missed every day. His memorial service will be held at Powers Funeral Home on September 26th, 2025, at 11am.
