Doris, Christensen passed away May 31, 2026. Born December 31, 1938 in Safford, Arizona to Bernice and Joseph Welson. Attended Safford Elementary and jr. High Schools and Ft. Thomas High, graduating in 1957 as class Salutatorian. She was employed as Secretary to the Dean of Admissions at Eastern Arizona College for several years prior to moving to the state of Washington in 1967. she was an office manager and secretary for homebuilders for 30 years.
Doris loved the Gila Valley, growing up near the downtown area of Safford and never forgot her roots there, always referring to the Valley as "Home."
She enjoyed writing and research and together with her husband they wrote two books and several magazine articles. Doris was honored to be included in the 26th Edition of Marquis' "who's Who in the West." After retirement, she sold antiques and collectibles part-time at antique shows.
Preceded in death by her husband of 31years, Don Christensen, and her Mother and Father, she is survived by brother, Solomon and Sister-in-Law Sabra Welson of California; Sister, Lilian and Brother in Law Richard Blasius of Washington; Sister Juanita Van Order and partner, Bob Sayah of Washington; best friend Fern (Black) Walton of Nevada; and several niece and nephews. she will join husband, Don, at Tahoma National Cemetery in Washington.
