Douglas Arthur Kuzmer was a man defined by his perseverance, his deep love for life, and an unwavering work ethic. He showed his love in the way he lived each day- through long hours of hard work, and a lifelong commitment to providing for those he cared about. Beneath his tough exterior was a deeply caring heart, one that those closest to him understood and cherished. To know Doug was to know a man who was strong-willed and never hesitated to freely share his opinions and direction. If he heard someone was working on their home or improving their yard, you could count on Doug to be there.
Doug was called home to be with the Lord on March 17, 2026, at the age of 84, in Puyallup, Washington. He was born on January 8, 1942, in Seattle, Washington, to Charles and Mildred Kuzmer.
Doug graduated from Auburn High School in 1961. He later married and had two children. In 1994, he remarried Magdalena dela Rosa, beginning a new chapter in his life. Together they shared 32 years.
Doug lived a long and meaningful life, built on hard work and determination- values instilled in him from an early age. He notably served for 35 years in the sanitation department with Republic Services until his retirement in 2012. Among his proudest accomplishments was building two houses from the ground up, a testament to his skill and determination.
Doug’s passion was his yard, which he tended with love and care. He and Magdalena took pride in their vibrant lawn, abundant flowers, and vegetable gardens. He had a deep love for Western films, particularly those starring Clint Walker, whom he later had the honor of meeting and corresponding with over the years. In retirement, he enjoyed crafting birdhouses, channeling his creativity into a fulfilling hobby. Doug was predeceased by his parents Charles and Mildred Kuzmer, and siblings David Kuzmer, Marilyn (Marvin) Anderson and Donnie (Donna) Kuzmer.
He is survived by his wife Magdalena dela Rosa, children, Steven Kuzmer, Lisa (Jon) Argo; siblings, Frank Kuzmer, Linda (Delbert) Bowe, Fred (Cindy) Kuzmer and Lillian (Tim) Schommer; and grandchildren, Jacob, Logan, Quinn Kuzmer, Dylan, Jaxon, and Linkin Argo.
Doug will be remembered for his strength, generosity, and the way he showed love throughout his life. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the love he shared with family and friends.
Doug will be profoundly missed, forever remembered, and always loved.
