Listen to Obituary

Lillian Lois (Towne) Riddell, December 27, 1933 – June 25, 2026 (92 years of age)

Passed at her family care home in University Place, WA. She was born Lillian Towne, to Clayton and Grace, in Hoquiam, WA. During earlier years, Lillian participated in pep squad and drama department activities. Upon graduation from high school, she attended Tacoma General Nursing School from 1952-1954, graduating as a RN, making many friends and enjoying fun times. She married Jerry Riddell on August 7, 1954, a happy union that lasted for 72 years as best friends. She worked for Dr. Denzler in Sumner following their marriage, and also was involved in the local chapter of Jr. League, and took several years off to raise her three children, Diane, Allyson, and Scott. In later years, she worked as a surgical nurse at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, WA.

Lillian lived in a variety of places across the U.S., including Sumner, Washington, San Diego, California, Buffalo, New York, Redmond, Puyallup, Shelton, Gig Harbor and University Place, WA.

Lillian played the piano and enjoyed many different genres of music, especially opera, show tunes, and classical music. She also enjoyed theater and live productions, and was a huge football fan.

She loved the family cabin near Union on Hood Canal, spending many delightful days with family, swimming, boating, and eating fresh clams from the beach. In retirement, she enjoyed gardening, local travel, and very much loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Jerry, daughters Allyson and Diane, son Scott (Wolf), grandchildren, Chris, James & Kate, and great grand-children, Gavin, Jack and Henry.

A private service will be held with immediate family members in alignment with Lillian’s wishes. The family requests any donations be made in Lillian’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, if desired.
