Norman Ware Sleeper, age 59, passed away peacefully at his home in Orting, Washington, on October 11, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him. Born on June 27, 1966, in Madera, California, Norman spent most of his life in Washington, where he built a home full of love, laughter, and unwavering support for his family.

Norman was a proud and skilled Bricklayer and Marble Mason with BAC Local 1, based out of Seattle. He spent 40 years in the union, known for his craftsmanship, strong work ethic, and dedication to his trade. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family and took great pride in what he built both on and off the job site.

Above all, Norman was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He and his beloved wife, Ruby Sleeper, shared a remarkable life together — 44 years side by side, including 41 years of marriage. Together, they raised a family filled with love and laughter.

Norman is survived by Ruby and their children: Christopher Nicholas, Amber Valenzuela, Ashley Sleeper, and Jared Sleeper. He was a cherished Papa to his grandchildren: Kaiya Valenzuela, Kaiden Sleeper, and Malachi Valenzuela. He is also survived by his siblings Ron Sleeper, Bonnie Lewallan, and Christie Teel, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenda Gardner and Fred Sleeper Sr., and his brothers, Thairon Sleeper and Fred Sleeper Jr.

Norman had a deep love for football and baseball, and even more so for time spent with his family and grandchildren. Whether traveling with Ruby or simply sitting and talking with loved ones, he made every moment count. To those who knew him, Norman was a solid rock — kind, gentle, loving, and always there when you needed him.

A funeral service will be held at Powers Funeral Home in Puyallup, WA, on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The final hour, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., will be reserved for immediate family to say their goodbyes. Food and refreshments will be provided following the service.
