Renate Hildegard Higgerson

Renate Hilda Higgerson-Schurz, age 83, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026.

Renate was born on November 1, 1942, in Nürnberg, Germany. She later immigrated to the United States and proudly became an American citizen on November 14, 1961. She completed her education at Yonkers High School of Commerce in Yonkers, New York.

Renate first met Garren Higgerson while working at the Rainier Mill. On October 5, 1962, Renate married Garren, the love of her life, in Port Angeles, Washington. Together they built a life centered on family, resilience, and love.

Renate worked for many years as a property manager at Sea-Tac Airport, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. After retiring from Sea-Tac Airport, she generously volunteered several years of her time with the USO, continuing her lifelong commitment to helping others.

Renate enjoyed reading, painting, gardening, and spending cherished time with her grandson, Gavin, who brought her tremendous joy. She will be remembered for her strength, determination, kindness, and deep love for her family.

She is survived by her children, Rob Higgerson, Lenay Schneider, and Leah Higgerson; her son-in-law, Marty Schneider; her daughter-in-law, Sheryl Higgerson; Leah’s fiancé, Steve Davis; and her beloved grandson, Gavin Schneider.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Garren Higgerson, who passed away on January 25, 2000.

At this time, no funeral or memorial service is planned. The family intends to hold a Celebration of Life at a later date and will share details with family and friends once arrangements have been finalized.

Renate’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, and her legacy of strength, love, and devotion to family will never be forgotten.
