Listen to Obituary

May 15, 1944 – April 24, 2026

Rodney Kent Erickson passed away at his home in Puyallup, Washington and is now resting in peace after a long bout with COPD and CHF. He was born in Moorehead, Minnesota, the youngest of ten children. Rodney grew up in the Seattle area and dedicated many years to his career as an industrial painter, working on ships, schools, bridges, and most proudly, the fleet of Washington State ferries.

A true die-hard UW Husky fan, Rodney could often be found wearing his Husky purple (Go Dawgs!). Beyond his sports, he had a deep love for animals, gardening, and crossword puzzles. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his many family members.

Rodney is finally at rest with our Lord and Savior.

He is survived by:

 Wife & best friend of 38 years: Christine Emma

 Daughters: Jamie Godinez (Rory), Jill Machay, and Josie Presley (Brian)

 Sister: Barbara Claybaugh

 Grandchildren: Shalamar (Eric), Bobby, Gabby, and Danika

 Great-Grandchildren: Damian, Rylee, Emelie, Jameson, and Jackson

A memorial and celebration of life is being planned for early June, details forthcoming. In lieu of gifts, please consider a donation in Rodney’s honor to the Humane Society of Tacoma & Pierce County.
