Yvonne Geraldine Olson

Yvonne Olson, age 88, passed away on Saturday May 9, 2026 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, WA surrounded by her family.

Yvonne Grovum was born on October 25, 1937 in Grafton, North Dakota, the daughter of Theodore "Ted" and Elida (Stransberg) Grovum. She graduated from Grafton High School. She worked at a bank after graduation. She met her loving husband, Morgan, on July 18, 1955 and they were united in marriage on January 12, 1957 in East Grand Forks, Minnesota. They moved to Washington in 1961 and lived in Tacoma until relocating to Puyallup in 1975.

Yvonne was a devoted wife and mother. She excelled at homemaking. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and growing flowers. She was a bus driver for Puyallup School District for several years. Yvonne enjoyed spending time with family on holidays, camping trips and cruises. Morgan and Yvonne always looked forward to visiting family in Arizona during the winter and North Dakota in the summer.

She had a strong faith in God and was a member of Living Word Lutheran Church, Graham, WA. She loved singing in the church choir, was involved in women's ministry and was a Bible study leader for many years.

Yvonne is survived by her 4 children; Susan (Rick) Fields, Laurie (Bob) Boogerd, Daryl (Deena) Olson, and David (Natalie) Olson. Nine grandchildren; Brian (Ashley) Fields, Christopher Olson, Scott (Kayla) Boogerd, Lauren (Justin) Bell, Greg (Jenna) Boogerd, Salena (Kelly) Ausburn, Jordan (Tracy) Olson, Evan Olson and Payton Olson, and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers Orville and Leland Grovum, sister Bernice McMartin and her parents.

The graveside service for Yvonne will be held at Woodbine Cemetery in Puyallup on May 20, 2026 at 11:30. All are welcome to attend.

The memorial service will follow at 1:00 at Living Word Lutheran Church in Graham, Washington.
