Alan Michael Metzler

September 26, 1960 - September 30, 2021

Alan died unexpectedly on September 30th.  

Born to Delbert and Joanne Metzler in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on September 26, 1960. He was raised and lived in Baldwin Township. Alan attended Resurrection Grade School, South Hills Catholic High School and then graduated from Baldwin Senior High School in 1978.

Alan joined the United States Army in 1979; Honorable Discharge in 1983.

He served in the Washington State Army National Guard Troop E 302n Cavalry from 1983; received Honorable Discharge in 1990 and then joined the Washington State Air National Guard 241st Civil Engineering Squadron and the 254th Red Horse Squadron from 1990 thru 2005 receiving Honorable Discharge. Alan retired with 26 years of service to our Country with the rank of Master Sergeant in 2005.

In 1982 Alan met and was married to Wendy Sheresh from 1983 – 2005. They had 3 daughters:  Jennifer, Jamie, and Jessica.

Alan had a long employment with the City of Tukwila in the Fire Prevention Department. He enjoyed and took pride in his work within the fire service profession. He was a great resource to the community.

Alan married Kathryn Timm in 2008 and they made their home in Puyallup Washington.

Alan was an avid audiophile and music lover. He was wealth of information regarding classic rock music and enjoy quizzing family and friends. He collected vintage receivers and enjoyed “rocking out” the neighborhood. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, recreational fishing and aquarium keeping.

 Alan is survived by his wife, Kathryn (Kat), daughters, Jennifer Seymour, Jamie Metzler, and Jessica Metzler, his sister, Aline Hoffman. brother, Steven Metzler, granddaughter, grandson, several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and a grand- nephew.

A committal service is to be held at the Tahoma National Cemetery on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 11:00 am.
