Betty Hall Obituary

It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend Betty "Liz" Ruth Hall. Betty is survived by her husband of 65 years, Darold Wayne Hall of Pierce County; her three daughters and their partners: Stephanie Callen & Mike Burris, Natalie Hall & Zöe Kanan, Valerie & Gene Boyington; her grandchildren: Julie Callen, Laura Trethaway, Tiffany Potter, Ryan Callen & Taryn Buman; and her great-grandchildren: Jack Ethan Adams, Liam Thomas Adams, Norah Wynne Trethaway, Carys Hazel Adams, Claire Rosalind Trethaway, Lincoln Joseph Potter, Whittier John Trethaway, Jonah Bear Potter, Arlyn Ruth Buman, Alivia Layne Potter & Hunter Stewart Buman.

Born August 3rd, 1930, in San Jacinto, California to Albert & Mildred Dyer, she was the 5th born and the last surviving of her siblings: Alfred, Arlene, Harold, Hazel, Beulah, Keith, Franklin, Vernon & Geneva. Betty lived a quietly colorful life, dealing cards and cocktail waitressing in Reno, Nevada in the 1950’s. She married Darold on February 3rd, 1957, in Gardnerville, Nevada. Throughout his Air Force career Betty was an involved and supportive spouse, moving house and family many, many times. She cared for her three daughters, often on her own as Darold was sent to military schools, and eventually Vietnam. Once he retired in 1978, they moved to Graham, Washington and worked together at the Handi-Stop Deli. Betty worked many jobs over the years but her greatest work was her family, she was a devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother and great-grandmother. She filled her homes with gorgeous flowers, hummingbird feeders, love, and quiet calm.

Betty passed the evening of January 14th, 2023. She was loved beyond measure and will be greatly missed. The internment will be at 1:00 Wednesday, February 1st, 2023, at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington. Family and friends are welcome.
