Marjorie Braaten Obituary

Marjorie “Elaine” (Miller) Braaten, 95, passed away March 27, 2021 in Puyallup, WA. She was born November 16, 1925 in Davenport, WA. She moved to Connell, WA with her family & following graduation she attended Whitworth College nursing program in Spokane becoming a RN. She met her husband/patient, Leland “Lee” Braaten, while nursing him back to health following surgery.

She was a wonderful loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother & great great grandmother. She enjoyed playing football as a child with her siblings & neighbor kids. She growled & grumbled at players & coaches alike while watching NFL/AFL on TV. She spent many years working on the family genealogy. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, & baking cookies, pies, cakes & eating the occasional Oreo milkshake. She laughed when we brought up how we used to fight over the number of scoops of chocolate sauce we did or didn’t get on our yellow cake.

She joins her husband, Lee; his son, Darrell Braaten; parents: Shirley & Alta (Odgers) Miller; brothers: Richard, Shirley “Ray”, Marvin “Louis”, & sisters: Leona Bumgardner & Ruby Shipp in Heaven.

She’s survived by her sisters: Phyllis Steinert, Dorothy Greenough, & Donna Botelho; children: Sandra (Steve) Blakeway, Rodney (Connie Gallegos) & Gary (Mariette) Braaten, Caren Braaten Panchot; grandchildren: Jared (Manuela) & Nicholas Blakeway, Trevor Braaten & Tanya (Arno) Bergstrom, Bunnie Darval, Steve (Julie) Darval & Tracey Darval Armstrong; and  Candie & Carrie Leader; great grandchildren: Mikael & Natanja Blakeway, Kara Blakeway; Chase Braaten, Graci Ether-Braaten, Cora, Carson, & Grayson Braaten; Arno & Riley Bergstrom; & Kaitlin Leader-Bird, Bryant Bird, & Bailey Valenta; great greatgrandchildren: Marissalinn & Brinlee-Kay Bresler, & Grayson Blakeway, Adrian-Kenoah Meier & one on the way. She also had many nieces & nephews.
