Morlin Mansfield Obituary

Morlin James (Mo) Mansfield, 75, passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 28), at the home of his sister, Christine, who was caring for him while he recuperated from ankle surgery.

Mo was born in Tacoma on June 20th, 1944 to Harold and Nikka (Kjemphol “Campbell”) Mansfield. He attended Franklin Pierce HS and graduated from Mt. Tahoma HS. Mo then enlisted in the Army National Guard and served a total of 6 years (both active duty and reserves).

He learned the trade of flooring at a young age and eventually formed his own company, M&M Installations, working until the early 2000’s. At that time, he “retired” and went to work for Pierce Transit for a short time as a Bus Driver.

As anyone who knew Mo can attest, he was quite a character and loved a good time. Love him or tolerate him, we bet everyone has a great “Mo” story! Over the years, he enjoyed traveling the country on his Harley, boating on the Puget Sound, stock-car racing, and following NASCAR events, both in person and on TV. He also had a love of old cars no matter what condition they were in.

Mo is survived by his three daughters, Cheri Topping of Wyoming, Carole (Jim) Pencek of Michigan, and Erika (John) Epperly of Washington; six grandchildren, Bryan (Barbie) Topping, Jamie, Alexis, and Matt Pencek, and Annika and Katelyn Epperly; and two great-grandchildren, Brysan and Brylie Topping. He is also survived by two sisters, Joanne (CG) Mansfield-Gales and Christine (Bill) Jay; nephew Gary (Nancy) Ensrud and nieces Andrea Dickinson and Nikka (Tige) Rothschiller; four great-nieces, a great-nephew, one aunt, two uncles, several cousins, and many special and lifelong friends.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Summer 2020; Date and location to be determined.
