Muriel Frances Jonas

Our beloved Muriel was born in Milton-Freewater, OR on November 15, 1930, to parents Blanch & Robert Pierce. Muriel passed away on January 30, 2021 at the age of 90.

Her siblings are Ronald (deceased); Ramona (deceased); Marleen (deceased); Larry; Robert, Jr. (Bob); & Janice.

Muriel was married at 18 years old to her high school sweetheart, Guy Jonas. They celebrated 72 Wedding Anniversaries together; & raised 2 daughters, Cassandra & Diana.

Muriel, Guy, & their 2 girls moved to Seattle, WA in 1950. They always kept in touch with their families.  Muriel loved being a wife & mother. A talent for art ran in the family; so, projects like Papier Mache’ pumpkins, Christmas window painting & decorating, floral design, ceramics & sewing were a part of life. She was a wonderful cook & baker & entertained with large dinners & many holiday celebrations.

She was a Hostess for sales seminars for several years.  She planned events & made silk rose pins for all the attendees.  Later she became the office manager for the family remodeling business.  And she was always a wife & mother.

Muriel loved life. She & Guy loved to go fishing & cruising through Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands in their 26’ Tolleycraft, with friends & family.  Muriel & Guy followed the U of WA Huskies football team with Powers Tours all around the USA, & toured the cities the teams played in.

For many years, Muriel & Guy were “snowbirds”, spending their winters in Mesa, AZ.  They also travelled to Jamaica, Hawaii, Acapulco, the Bahamas, Canada, Italy, Holland, France, Switzerland, Germany, & Austria.

Muriel attended the Christian Church.  She was a teacher, deaconess, & follower of Christ all her life.

Muriel is survived by her husband, Guy Jonas, 92 (Orting, WA); her 2 daughters: Cassandra Martin (Longbranch, WA) and Diana Sifferman (Graham, WA). Her grandchildren are Joey Burns (North Bend, OR); Joe Sifferman (Auburn, WA); Todd Martin (Kent, WA); Ben Sifferman (Arlington, WA); & Brooke Sifferman (Graham, WA).  Her great-grandchildren are Jordan & Jake Denbo; Isabelle & Alyssa Martin; Aria, Ellie, & Lilly Sifferman; & Kian Sifferman.  We all love her.

Memorial Services will be delayed to July or August 2021 because of the Covid-19 pandemic & the wish to keep everyone safe.
