Nerie DeLeon Obituary

Nerie DeLeon, “Betty,” was born the youngest of six children to Paterno Seria and Benita Seria on May 21, 1937 in Buguey Cagayan, Philippines. Nerie DeLeon had three sisters and one brother, her one surviving sister Arsenia Tacla, is 97 years old.

Nerie DeLeon graduated with her degree from the Colegio de Immaculada Conception in the Philippines.

Nerie married Ricardo DeLeon and they arrived in the United States on July 4, 1959. They were blessed with one son, Ricardo DeLeon Jr.

Nerie started her work journey at Hexcel Corporation with her best friend Margarita Mina. After working at Hexcel, she decided to pursue her career in banking at Bank of America as a personal banker and retired on May 16, 1996.

During her retirement years, her favorite passions were cooking, gardening, shopping and spending time with friends. One of her favorite excursions was going to Ocean Shores and clam digging with her best friend, Margarita Mina.  Furthermore, Nerie volunteered her time as past president for the Filipino American Community in South King County.  She dedicated her life to her family, while successfully contributing in positive ways to her community.

Nerie was a strong, positive and compassionate individual.  She supported the accomplishments of her nieces, nephews and friends.

Nerie is survived by her nephew Pio and his wife Remi and their children Nerie, who was named after her, and John Pio, and Nena Delarosa, whom she lived with for 12 years and like a daugher to her, and her sister Arsenia Tacla, and 2 grandmas Teresa and Rosita.
