Robert Douglas Leighton

Robert Douglas Leighton, born December 5, 1933, passed away at Tacoma General Hospital, at the age of 88, on April 21, 2022, following a stroke.  Born in Tacoma, Washington to Floyd and Elizabeth Leighton, Bob resided in Pierce County throughout his life graduating from Fife High School.  He attended Bates Technical College following his service in the Navy. Bob’s career included time as a police officer for the City of Tacoma and a truck driver for construction companies. During his retirement, Bob enjoyed traveling to Yuma, Arizona for the winter, playing golf and cards, reading, and his family. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Florence; two sons Doug and Mark (Debbie); six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.  Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one brother. Bob’s memorial service will be held May 9, 2022 at 1:00pm at Powers Funeral Home followed by a reception.
