Obituary

Samuel (Sam) Castillo, 91, died peacefully surrounded by family on August 26th, 2023, in Puyallup, WA.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Castillo.

Sam was born in San Francisco on May 18th, 1932, and raised in the Bayview and Potrero Hill neighborhoods.

Sam was a proud Korean War veteran and spent many years in the crating industry prior to his retirement. He could be found recounting stories of his early life in San Francisco with his siblings, his time in Korea, and of course his many memories with his wife Shirley.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and rooting for his Niners, Giants, and Warriors. Sam would always be in touch with all of his family and friends, letting everyone know he was always there for them. 

He is survived by his daughters, Lonnie, Dolly (Art), Sandi, and son Michael (Frances), his grandchildren: Bob, Chris, Phil (Megan), Dan (Elisabeth), Traci, Michael II (Suzanne), Anthony, Samuel, and Jake, great-grandchildren: Michael III, Mai, Easton, Berkley, and Ari, as well as all of his beloved nieces and nephews.

He was loved and will be greatly missed.

Memorial services will be at Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 300 Curtner Ave, San Jose CA  95125 Mausoleum on the hill. September 22nd, 2023, at Noon.

There will be no reception after the services.
